Our Emergency Services

Yorkshire Vets operates a 24-hour, 365 days a year in-house emergency service. This means that if you require our assistance outside of normal surgery hours we are there to help. Unlike many other practices within the UK, we do not use answer phones; if you call us you will be automatically diverted to the duty night nurse who will be happy to help you. If you require further assistance, the duty night nurse will contact the duty vet who will then contact you directly.
The veterinary surgeon who rings you back will need to ask you some questions to establish the nature of the problem. Many problems can be resolved with advice given over the phone. If your pet needs more immediate attention then we will arrange to see him or her at our 24-hour emergency hospital at Thornbury.
It makes sense for us to see emergency cases in one place. The hospital at Thornbury is equipped to cope with just about any emergency. There, the duty vet will have the assistance of a nurse and, should your pet need to be hospitalised, he or she can be monitored through the night.
Computer records from all our sites are linked –so that, even if you normally go to one of our other surgeries, your pet’s records will be available to a vet at Thornbury in case of an emergency.
For security reasons we cannot, under any circumstances, allow duty nurses to open the doors to un-announced callers. If you have an emergency PLEASE RING BEFORE ARRIVING.
TO USE THE EMERGENCY SERVICE, CALL ANY ONE OF OUR CLINICS ON THEIR USUAL NUMBER, YOUR CALL WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY DIVERTED TO THE DUTY NIGHT NURSE. |
